An urban courtyard with room to breathe
In Chamberí, a courtyard or space between buildings can benefit from a simple, well-proportioned composition. We identify views from the home and the areas receiving light before introducing planting, seating or paving. Circulation and maintenance space remain part of the design.
Planting for actual light conditions
A courtyard may combine prolonged shade, reflected light and more exposed corners. Plant selection starts with those conditions and available root volume. Planters need a considered combination of growing medium, drainage and irrigation. A planting arrangement that works in one position may not suit another.
Improving space while preserving access
Drains, utilities and maintenance routes should remain accessible. Material handling and rules for shared areas also need consideration. Restrained lighting can support evening use while respecting nearby windows and homes.
